The latest release from Microbody

The time has come for a new release. We start up with a two tracks digital single, which the title
song is a brand new one, and the so called “B-side” is an extended mix of Hard Reward, the last
track of the former EP Random Victims. This new song, called Kaposi’s Sarcoma is a little bit
different from other MB-tunes. With its over 7 minutes, it’s the longest Microbody-song so far.
Also, the theme of the lyrics is slightly different from the past.

This is the first, and perhaps only time that we move in to comment on an individual song.


Peter H about the song Kaposi’s Sarcoma:

“I decided to write a song about the victims for one of the darkest chapters in medical history,
since I read part one and two of three books in a novel serie by the swedish writer and comedian
Jonas Gardell, called "Do never dry tears without gloves” (“Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar”).
Not any story has ever been influenced and touched me so much as these books. It’s a story about
love & sexuality between the first victims of AIDS in the early 80’s Stockholm. At the same time
as the swedish society slowly became more open for homosexuality, an (for that time) unknown
disease started to infect young gay men, which in many cases started with a less common form of
cancer called Kaposi’s sarcoma. This usually meant a very painful suffering and death for those
who became infected. The most of these people died alone and isolated, completely separated from
the rest of society. In many cases treated like trash more than people. Both because of ignorance
and prejudice.

None of us in Microbody are gay or have any kind of relation to these victims. But we have a
strong compassion and empathy for vulnerable people in hard situations, which these people was,
and still are in other parts of the world. This song is dedicated to all victims in that awful
disease called AIDS.Especially those earlier cases, before they had control of the virus. Before
anyone knew the real risks and took them seriously. In a time when young men started to grow thin,
fade away and die.

I chose to call this song Kaposi’s Sarcoma, which is the name of that cancer tumor, most
known as one of the AIDS defining illnesses. Well, maybe I could have chosen a less gloomier
name, but this is not any happy tune about sunshine holidays either. It is also not a minute
of silence, because it has been quiet enough for these people for thirty years now.

So this is 7:47 minutes of compassion. A scream for those who never more can.
It’s also a consolation, and a reminder that the pain will not always exist. Even when it
hurts at most. It’s a love song about life and its weaknesses, about death, pain and loneliness.
But most of all, this is a memory of vindication and respect for those who never got the chance
to live their lives, with the respect and acceptance for the personalities they were, and as they
all deserved.

With this song, we also would like to share the message of a humane love with an openness and understanding
for the differences between other peoples feelings, their choices and decisions they take to express love
and sexuality (even if we like it or not)… It’s also a defence of everyone’s dignity, in a time when this
world needs to become more open, equal and peaceful, to lighten up the dark clouds of different threats,
of both visible and invisible limitations between people.“
